We sat down with Morris Groberman of Northwest Commercial Real Estate Investments Partner to hear how his experience in the industry, and the tools they use in AppFolio Property Manager and AppFolio Investment Manager, have together made them experts in their industry, with no signs of slowing down.

When and why did you start using AppFolio Investment Manager? Where are your properties located?

Morris Goberman: Northwest Commercial Real Estate Investments was founded in 2005, and we’ve been able to branch out from Capitol Hill, Washington, to areas like West and East Seattle and Kirkland. Being in this industry, I've seen a change with technology and how we’re reaching people — whether it be our residents or investors — and that change has ramped up the speed for everything that we've done. We started using AppFolio very early on, partnering with them in 2018, and I’m very pleased with the growth and the improvements that have been made to this platform.

How have your tax season processes improved with the help of the K-1 upload tools within AppFolio Investment Manager?

Morris Goberman: On our dining room table, my wife and I would fold all the K-1s by hand, stuff them in envelopes, and mail them out to investors. But now I just say, ‘It’s on the [investor] portal.’ Our investors can log in to the portal, retrieve their K-1, and see how their investment’s doing and the value of their asset.

How has your experience been leveraging both AppFolio Property Manager and AppFolio Investment Manager to stay aligned and productive?

Morris Goberman: Having AppFolio Property Manager and AppFolio Investment Manager work together has been beneficial for my team with our reports, investor information, and providing immediate changes to the investor values because we're able to automatically sync the loans. Overall, AppFolio is effective, has saved us money and valuable time, and has helped us grow our business.
